[the typing is loud down here] [Jun. 24th, 2006|10:15 pm]
I haven't been writing much lately, the typing really does seem to make SD wonder what I'm doing, at times. Bah.

So, for anyone still interested in reading this LJ:

I <3 Bleach. I would like to believe that I've caught up to the most recent installment, but one can never be sure.

In anycase, it had redeemed itself with regards to Rukia, though there might've been a few plot holes here and there.

Thus, she still remains as one of my favorite characters.

Interesting is the key word, here.

I <3 Bleach.

[ohhhh yeah] [Jan. 6th, 2006|04:49 pm]

^_^ Happy New Year's, everyone! I know, I know, it's like 1.6.6.whatever, but still, I'm throwing it out, as a belated greetings for the lot o' ya, because I'm just weird that way.

^^;

It's really weird, because after writing for SSP, I hunkered down to check my ff.net page (yeah, that one), and checked my flist (because I'm a bad person, and should really sign in more), and found mary-sues and what-not. And really really tried my damndest not to play WoW, because fanficcing and WoW is just.

Just no.

But Jaina and Thrall! The possibilities! The rich storyline! The young boy-king of Stormwind and Sylvanas of the Forsaken (she'd fucking KILL him, and use him to poison the rest of the human world. then probably fuck him.)! Varimathras and the Archdruids! Both of them!

Yaya, no. I'll leave that to the more imaginative of the fandom. Which reminds me...

In anycase, I ended up going through some of the fics from the past year and beyond (because I certainly didn't write enough last year), and found my old GW fics. Reviewing the past is part of the new year, eh? Or something.

ahahahahaaaa. ^^ "r+r, pls!"

If I ever really wanted to push myself as better than any other n00b fangirl out there, all I really need to do is head back to my ff.net archive, and stab myself in the face. To be sure, the very first fic I ever posted to ff.net was a mary/gary-stu, and it is no longer there. I honestly don't know where it is, now.

But in anycase, Happy New Year's, minna-san, may we all appreciate (as well as keep well-tied-up and away from the rest of the world) the fangirl/bois in all of us, and to each good luck for the oncoming. ^^

here's a present from the silly fangirl )

[updates on the life of...] [Dec. 16th, 2005|08:25 am]
I took up watching Mushishi, an interesting horror-type series about a guy named Ginko who travels around collecting Mushi, a kind of supernatural set of beings that have a close connection to the heart/spirit, and occasionally have serious effects on human beings. Considering that I've developed recently an adverse reaction to any anime involving brightly-colored, bouncy teenage-ish girls as their main cast, I guess this was to be expected.

Because I'm not a big fan of horror, in general.

Also taking up suggestions as to what else to watch this winter; WoW eats my soul, and shouldn't, so I figured I might as well go back to the roots of my initial soul-rot. Mmm, anime. The only catch is, if it involves brightly-colored, bouncy teenage-ish girls as its main cast, it has to be, in your opinion, good, and justified. And have a backup selection. So jaded. ;_;

I'd go for more Kyo Kara Maoh, but now that involves going to the DVD store, and standing in front of the racks for at least an hour looking at the possible series, which, I think, may creep the salespeople out. Hate being stared at while I try to figure out what to buy, so I stand around waiting for them to leave. Huh.

Ah! My Goddess came out on DVD; the TV series, y'know. Like it so far. ^^

And one of these days I'll watch Kino no Tabi. ONE OF THESE DAYS!

Ahem.

In other news, I woke up to a great idea for SSP. ^________________________________________^ I wonder if I can write it.

... To WoW!

[update?] [Oct. 2nd, 2005|10:43 pm]
Tokyopop licensed Never Give Up!, one of my favorite Shoujomagic projects. Love cross-dressing manga, am sad to see it stop being worked on, am glad it finally got licensed. It's a sweet shoujo, kinda frustrating to read, but not as bad as Hot Gimmick.

Oh, and Kiri makes a pretty cute bishounen. ^^

Also watched the last episode of Honey and Clover, yet another shoujo, think I mentioned that before. Haha, it's another Shoujomagic manga project, love ShoujoMagic to bits. ^^ If there's any shoujo I am bound to like, it's probably been covered by them.

The anime is a nice find, very "everyday", but with a "bittersweet love" bit going on. Hope this gets licensed at some point in time, too ::curious to see how dubs go::. I think it ended pretty well (and it's another one of those "the manga's not done yet" series), with some sort of direction going for all the characters. It's nice to see.

... I need to make more icons..

["so good as to be orgasmic and tantalizing"] [Sep. 18th, 2005|11:32 pm]
- RedEyedRavenWolf, who made a review recently on [lazy and not]

I really do like that fic, mainly because it was fun to write, and reading the reviews for it do make me feel warm and fuzzy inside, though I'm still just incredibly happy people like the fiction. This latest review just struck me as interesting, to say the least - hardly considered any of this fiction written to be orgasmic and tantalizing, so I'm sitting here trying to figure it out.

Wonder if I can write orgasmic and tantalizing fanfic again?

Hakkai: Well...

Yaone: She's incapable of smut.

...

Yeah, well. This still tells me I completely slacked on the fanfic portion of this summer. I'm a bad person. ;_;

[this week's sampler: onmyou taisenki] [Aug. 28th, 2005|11:12 pm]
Having internet access back and all not only resulted in me drowning in WoW goodness, but the return of series sampling.

For instance, Onmyou Taisenki was an oddly entertaining sampler. Typical shounen story about a normal, kinda polite-ish guy with a strange habit that actually ends up to be useful. Apparently, there's this ongoing battle between Earth-Style and Heaven-Style Toujinshi, or those who make contracts with Shikigamis, then basically fight each other with them. Main character's grandfather gets into a jam, and main character ends up making a contract with an arrogant but powerful shikigami to help save the old man. The toujinshi carry their shikigamis around with them in modern-looking Drives, and battle with seals made up of kanji and different motions.

Some comparisons, but this doesn't mean I really think of it this way - I was just having fun making the comparisons:
1. The whole Drive thing reminds me of Digimon, as do the shikigami character designs
2. The summoning sequences involve the paper walls seen in traditional houses, expanded and scrolled about kind of like paper, which leads to thoughts of the flower paper used in Yoroiden Samurai Troopers
3. The human character art looks kind of like Brigadoon-style. Solid, clumpy, rounded hair. ^^
4. The main character's shikigami, Kogenta, wears Mickey Mouse/Sora (from Kingdom Hearts) pants. The bell on his tail and the sword he has helps the Sora look a lot.

The side characters are also pretty fun. One childhood friend is constantly obsessing over whether she should like the guy or not, simply because her new school friends tease her about it, while another classmate is infatuated with the shikigami, who she believes is her dead cat reincarnated. The main character is not entirely spineless, just overly polite against the shikigami's Inuyasha-traits. Plus, he still doesn't know what the heck is going on; he's just flowing with it.

Might follow the series for a bit. Dunno how long, since it is a fighting anime, and I'm afraid it might get repetitive. ::shrug:: Oh. Well. Pessimism. :P

Some random fandom bits:

(from manganews, who got it from someone else?):

Prince of Tennis is going to be made into a live action movie, and an OVA anime will show up at some point in time. Also, at some point in time, I may invest a little time in searching for the rare MomoRyo doujin (it's rare to me).

Fujimi Orchestra is ... interesting. It kinda reminds me of what I didn't like about most harem anime (predetermined relationship, with the majority of the cast supporting a pushy love interest), but... I guess art wins over on this little BL manga.

Also got to read a Digital Manga release called Antique Bakery. Pretty simplistic art, story looks interesting so far.

Yeah, um. Whenever Tokyopop/Blu comes out with Love Mode, I'll be jogging over to the nearby bookstores.

Watched the Ghostbusters movie the other night. Caught all the adult jokes, laughed at the cheesy. Hadn't seen that in years, still love it.

Some off-beat ficcage for you. Enjoy.

[I'm back?] [Aug. 22nd, 2005|12:00 am]
Yes, I'm back. I think.

.
.
.

Amidst big events and moving of stuff, and fixing of computer, and. Um. Playing WoW, I think it's safe to say now that I'm back. In a way.

I was kinda planning on making little drawings about it, and surprising you all, but that fell by the wayside.

Oh. Well.

I also have a loud keyboard, now, and someone who can probably hear my typing all two rooms away in the wee hours of the night. Gotta tone it down a bit, that late-night fic-writing. ^^

Watched "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" yesterday, loved it, because, well. Yeah. And it helped that the Gene Wilder one annoyed me to no end. As I told my sister at some point in time, will be seeing "Corpse Bride" should the need for movies comes up again.

As much as I like Ultimate Fantastic Four, didn't bother to go see the movie, though I heard the Human Torch was on the spot. ::shrug:: Maybe will rent it.

Picked up "Antique Bakery" and "Yellow", read them, the ambiguously gay teasers they are, and also found a dictionary or two on Japanese slang.

I have a cow druid. He's a little on the loopy side, and he pretends not to see his fellow shaman killing all the gazelles they find, but he's a druid anyway.

I think he'll be a tank.

Yeah. I've been playing WoW.

... ;_;

I'll have presents for you, I promise. ^^

[news! for once] [Jul. 6th, 2005|11:37 am]
Manganews reports from other sources, but this is where I got it, so nyeah.

Some notable:

Bus Gamer

and the new BL line has other notable:

Love Mode
Earthian
Wild Rock

Just as a reference.

Oh. And Kyo Kara Maoh! V2 came out supposedly yesterday. I forgot to do a little quickie analysis of the English Dub Voices. Here goes:

Overall: Not bad acting.
Some Character Comparison to Japanese Voices: Yuuri, not bad a match. He doesn't over do it, and he's not bland. Huh.
Conrad, threw me off for a bit, but still decent for a bishounen godfather
Wolfram and Gunter: Mwaha. Somewhat appropriate.
Gwendal: AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Ahem.

English Gwendal sounds like a cowboy. Listening to him makes me laugh. Switching between languages makes me laugh even harder.

Though, "Wagamama Pooh" sounds a little better than whatever they had up in the dub. I forget.

[ano wagamama pooh?

The Gaydar Test

You personally got 14 of the 20 people correct and were better at recognizing guys than girls. Overall, you guessed better than 59% of all test takers.

think I should take it several more times, because it's just fun to guess. ::sad, sad person::

I think, though, the image for that was hilarious. "Definitely time to get tested."

Oh. And Samurai Champloo rocks. A little behind on the times, I am, but I watch anime whenever.

[i have roses with petals that look like wood] [Jun. 29th, 2005|11:28 am]
Actually not kidding. The petals are nicely striped in a sort of wood grain bit. Anyone know what they're called? Maybe I'll get around to posting pictures.

Working on WinME has reminded me of all the fun I missed when I was on XP. These past few weeks have had the most blue screens I've had in the two years I had XP. I want a happier OS.
